Updates from the Barbados Football Association
Wildey is Building a "Home for Football"
The Barbados Football Association’s Wildey facility is undergoing a major overhaul, with completion expected in 2026. Funded by FIFA 2.0, the project includes a new second floor for the administration building, enhanced security with a perimeter wall, and a FIFA-approved natural grass pitch for both youth and national team use. Electrical upgrades are also underway to support future expansions and improve operations. These improvements will provide a top-tier venue for local and international football events, fulfilling the federation’s ambitious goal to construct a “Home for Football”. Amidst the ongoing construction, the federation continues to host matches using their artificial turf field and the Phillip Blagrove Training Pitch Funded by Concacaf.

Barbados Earns CNL Promotion to League B
The Barbados senior men’s team secured promotion to League B of the 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League with a 5-0 victory over the U.S. Virgin Islands at the Wildey Astro Turf Stadium. Hadan Holligan opened the scoring in the 42nd minute, followed by a penalty from Niall Reid-Stephen just before halftime. Reid-Stephen completed a hat-trick with two more goals, including one from a free kick. Omani Leacock sealed the win in injury time. The victory topped the group and confirmed Barbados’ return to League B, with goalkeeper Kishmar Primus recording his second clean sheet of the campaign.

Barbados U-14 Boys Crowned 2024 CFU Challenge Series Champions
The Barbados U-14 Boys national team has made history by winning the 2024 CFU Boys Challenge Series. The victory marks the team’s sixth straight win in the competition and represents their consistent performance and determination throughout the competition. It also highlights the players’ dedication and effort, the guidance of U-14 Head Coach Fitzgerald Carter, and the Barbados Football Association's commitment to nurturing future talent.

Expanding the ‘Bigger Game’ to Include Women and Girls
In 2023, the Barbados Football Association, in collaboration with Concacaf, launched the ‘Bigger Game’ initiative at Wildey Turf to promote women’s participation in sports ahead of the 2024 W Gold Cup. The event included a Coaches Education Workshop with 28 coaches and a girls’ youth football festival, attracting over 100 participants from local schools. The festival gave coaches the opportunity to implement new coaching techniques while inspiring young girls to engage in football.
BFA and NPP Empowering Youth through Football
The Barbados Football Association continues its partnership with the government-led National Peace Program (NPP) to support youth development and crime prevention. Through educational and football activities, the BFA engages at-risk youth in local communities, including a recent community tour with children from the Passage Road hub. The BFA aims to provide holistic support to the youth by engaging them in football and other positive activities, fostering both physical and social development. The NPP is a response to the national outcry for crime prevention and the safeguarding of vulnerable youth development in Barbados.
